” My dream is to become Dorothy on Broadway because of the inspiration I’ve experienced from playing the role of Roxie Hart. Dorothy’s story is my story. In her final moment, Dorothy sings the song “Home” and for me to finally be “home” after all I have been through, living in my dream and purpose, it feels like it’s just meant to be. This role is not about age, it’s about spirit. I feel that I have the right compassion, light, authenticity, and depth to play Dorothy. What live theatre has done for my being, I believe and know that I can bring Dorothy to life in the most humble, unique and genuine way.
Diana Ross was 34 at the time she played the original Dorothy, followed by Stephanie Mills, who was around the same age. Somewhere in between, Whitney Houston, my fairy Godmother, sang a magical version of “Home” live. Both Diana and Whitney have influenced me in a direct and personal way and I feel like I am next in line to play Dorothy. This is God’s dream for me, through me, as me… I believe in God and I believe that God is the Wiz!”
