The superstar that is Brandy Norwood has a legacy and resume that is easily unmatched, and the list is consistently growing. After dominating the music charts, television, film, and now theater, Norwood has now awaken within a new dream, and it appears as though the world is once again in her hands.

To those that follow Bran, It is no secret that she has a raging desire to play ‘Dorothy’ in the Broadway musical of The Wiz and today the influential vocalist took to her blog to release a captivating acapella snippet of the final song ‘Home‘, originally sang by Stephanie Mills. Brandy’s vocals are unmatched and her emotive singing is what sets her apart from the rest! Peep what Brandy had to say about her connection to playing the role of  ‘Dorothy’, her sickening vocals, and catch what talk show host, Wendy Williams dished in her supportive response below!

” My dream is to become Dorothy on Broadway because of the inspiration I’ve experienced from playing the role of Roxie Hart. Dorothy’s story is my story. In her final moment, Dorothy sings the song “Home” and for me to finally be “home” after all I have been through, living in my dream and purpose, it feels like it’s just meant to be. This role is not about age, it’s about spirit. I feel that I have the right compassion, light, authenticity, and depth to play Dorothy. What live theatre has done for my being, I believe and know that I can bring Dorothy to life in the most humble, unique and genuine way.

Diana Ross was 34 at the time she played the original Dorothy, followed by Stephanie Mills, who was around the same age. Somewhere in between, Whitney Houston, my fairy Godmother, sang a magical version of “Home” live. Both Diana and Whitney have influenced me in a direct and personal way and I feel like I am next in line to play Dorothy. This is God’s dream for me, through me, as me… I believe in God and I believe that God is the Wiz!”
