Emerging from the “dirty south” Atlanta, Georgia to be exact new girl group Havok Jones are bringing a new type of girl group ‘turn-up’. MaiDai, Kea Aleis, Aire B and Neiko come together to form Havok Jones. Four different individuals with one sound, and that sound just maybe what’s missing in the industry today.
The ladies just dropped their original single “Who You” featuring fellow ATL native rapper Young Thug. The track is produced by Honorable C-Note and has that edgy bass that Atlanta artist are known for with sassy lyrics.
True Exclusives caught up with the group at the R&B spotlight showcase at SOB’s in NYC where the ladies opened up for Dru Hill.
Who are some of you girl group influences?
Definitely every girl group that came before us. We look up to them in so many ways. Envouge, Xscape, Destiny Child, 702 and SWV, you know they paved the way for us. We’re just trying to introduce the world to Havok, its our time now.
What’s your favorite part about being in a group?
We all enjoy feeding off each others energy. We all have our own individual sound and style but together we create a unified sound. Our voices compliment each other. We’re like sisters.
Now you guys hosted an event in ATL entitled “Havok Jones: The Inagural Homage” which celebrated some of the most iconic girl groups of all time hosted by Sister 2 Sister Magazine’s Jamie Foster Brown. Describe that feeling?
It was amazing, there were about four hundred people who showed up and a lot of heavy hitters in the building. Latavia Roberson from (Destiny’s Child/R&B Divas’ ATL) Meelah (702), and Angie Stone came and we felt so grateful to be able to perform for them. After our performance Meelah and Latavia gave us so much advice that I know would stick with us and help us to be better as a group. Just seeing the way the crowd responded to us, it was truly a blessing.
Are there any traits from other girl groups that you admire?
We admire their ability to be uniquely unified. We’re four girls who have four different personalities but when we get on that stage we’re in tuned together. To be able to see how the groups performed and worked together is what we admire the most. We’ve been working with each other for awhile so we’ve grasped the concept of knowing whose voice can fit on the chorus and the bridge of certain tracks.
What does Havok Jones bring to the industry?
A new era of ‘turned up.’ We’re bringing talent, youthfulness and just that real R&B vibe.
What’s next for Havok Jones?
Well we’re performing at Young Thug’s birthday party coming up in Atlanta. In addition we’re writing and working on our debut album. Their will be more performances coming as well.
How can we stay up to date with Havok Jones?

Well the ladies have said ” instead of keeping up with the Joneses, we reak havoc on them.”
Their wild, super turned up and daring. Could Havok Jones bring back that old school girl group vibe the game has been missing? Only time will tell.
In the mean time check out video footage from their performance at the ‘Havok Jones: Inaugural Homage’ showcase in ATL.
