Following the release of his chart topping new album, Drake is already onto his next project and it appears that he is taking a page right out of Jay Z’s playbook by entering a business partnership with Canada’s NBA team, the Toronto Raptors. Drake will act as a ‘global ambassador’ for the team and will be involved in the teams business and rebranding decisions.
Drake recently stopped by ESPN’s First Take where he told them, “The real goal here is to build up the Toronto Raptors”, a team that has struggled to contend in the past, not having made the playoffs in 5 years. When asked, what he hopes to gain from his involvement he said, “I want to bring the excitement into this building, I want a team that people are dying to come see, I want the tickets to be extremely hard to get,” I want to bring that aggression, I want to bring that energy. Obviously, I want it to be a top team in the NBA, if not the top team.”.
Good move by Drake! Now comes the test to see if he can really revive the fading franchise.
