It’s been a long time coming for Aussie bred rapper Iggy Azalea, but she is one of hip hops brightest rising stars. In a short time her name has been on a many tongue, for good and bad reason (see Azalea Banks beef). She was poised to be the first lady of T.I.’s Grand Hustle movement after signing with him over a year ago. However, after a very moderate start with the self proclaimed King of the South, the ‘P.U.S.S.Y.’ rapper is set to make a move that might prove to be her best decision yet.
Taking to twitter today Iggy announced that she has now singed a deal with Def Jam Records. In an attempt to defuse any speculation, she also shot down rumors of any bad blood between she and her Grand Hustle family.
As fans of the hip hop hidden gem we are quite estatic about this change. Her time with TI was a great start to generate buzz for herself, but with the lack of real promotion and backing of a major label such as Def Jam, Iggy and any of her efforts would have more than likely have gone unnoticed. Example? her single ‘Murda Bizness’ which dropped last year and subsequently did little to nothing despite it’s potential of being a monster hit for radio and the clubs. Here’s hoping that the Def Jam move will result in the expansion of her name and brand.
