Just days after her Superbowl halftime show performance, Beyonce is set to premiere her first HBO Special on February 16, 2013. Speaking on the as yet untitled film, Mrs. Knowles-Carter stated:
“HBO has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity,” “Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home.”
Although this is not Bey’s first foray into the concert/documentary world this will definetely be unlike her past concert DVD’s and specials according to Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming. It will strip down all the glitz and the glamor that fans see and reveal a more real and vulnerable side of the superstar. Lombardo added:
“Everybody knows Beyoncé’s music, but few know Beyoncé the person,” . “Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman.”
The film will feature some of Beyonce’s personal laptop footage as well as vintage footage which chronicles her journey from childhood to the global superstar she is today. Bey will also serve as director and executive producer of the film.
It’s looking to be a bright and busy new year for Bey and with fans anticipating her 5th studio album as well, we are sure she is poised to dominate the music world once again.
