Fans of Solange Knowles have patiently been waiting for a new album from her. Solange stated in an interview with V Magazine that this album will have a lot of songs about sex. Not only will the song be about sex but she says that the album will be an album you will listen to with your friends and party the night away. Solange hasn’t had an easy time making this album, she has had panic attacks and wiling out. Her team say the place where Solange was recording had a “bad vibe”. Solange has worked with Hynes, Vincent Vendetta of the Midnight Juggernauts, Ariel Reichstadt and also Pharrell on this album. Check out what Knowles had to say about the making of the album.
“There are a lot of songs about sex. It’s the kind of record you put on when your man is coming over, when you’re with your girls. There are songs that make you wanna dance because we were kind of partying our way through the record, but it’s very chill.”
Solange speaking on the sound of the album, and the makings of it:
“My references for the record were all Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, not just their typical Janet and Prince stuff, but SOS Band and their b-sides with Chaka Khan. At first the songs were really dark because I had a premonition before the record that I was going to die. I was having panic attacks and wiling out.”
“I have never been invested in believing anything about hauntings, so of course I was thinking it was something within myself because I am in complete denial of ghosts. But I think it was haunted!”
Solange expressing how she feels about the sound about the album:
“I don’t need anyone telling me ‘this isn’t cool enough’ or anyone from the opposite end saying ‘this seems kind of weird.’ I’m lucky enough to have been in this business for so long that I know how it works. It’s not that hard. It’s not rocket science.”
I don’t know about you guys, but I am excited for Solange’s new album! Hopefully she will name the album soon and set a release date! Read the full interview here.
