The second annual Girls Who Rock benefit concert was held at Gramercy Theatre on Friday, June 12th. With the help of headliner Jojo, opening acts Nina Sky, KimberlyNichole, Nikki Jean and Eddy, the concert doubled last year’s proceeds. More then 30 girls at Uganda’s Arlington Academy of Hope, a partner school of the social media
savvy non-profit She’s the First, will be enrolled in school next year.
GIRLS WHO ROCK aims to raise $20,000 through combined online and offline efforts, and the online CauseVox fundraising campaign continues for 17 more days. It is more than halfway to its goal of $5,000, which is the equivalent of five secondary school girls’ annual tuition: http://girlswhorock.causevox.com. Donors are suggested to give $11 in honor of a graduate they know this year, joining *GIRLS WHO ROCK’s Class of 2011 Campaign*, so that these girls in Uganda will be able to reach the same milestone. 100% of donations go straight to the cause.
