Juelz Santana was arrested in New Jersey on Wednesday afternoon (February 2), just two weeks after his Jersey studio was raided by authorities and resulted in an arrest of one of the members of his Skull Gang rap group. Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli revealed late Wednesday that the rapper (real name: Laron James) was hauled in on four counts of narcotic and weapon offenses. The arrest follows a 10-month investigation of Santana and his cohorts, conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Gang Unit, said reports. Authorities claim Juelz is a suspected member of the Bloods street gang, and officials raided his New Jersey studio, dubbed “Santana’s World,” on January 20, turning up two fully loaded handguns, drug paraphernalia, and 17 Ziploc bags containing “a greenish brown vegetation, consistent with the appearance of Marijuana.” During the raid, Skull Gang member MC Hynief (real name: Toby M. Raynor) was arrested and charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, after he sold weed to an undercover officer on two occasions last summer, in June and July. Juelz was apparently out of town during the initial raid, for a scheduled performance in Chicago, which had canceled due to the incident. At press time, Juelz was being held on $125,000 bail. However, his brother told MTV, Juelz had already posted bail and is simply going through processing.
