Jennifer Lopez has parted ways with Sony Music Group. Sources say it was due to the lukewarm reception to her “Louboutins” single and “Fresh Out The Oven” buzz single. Others say Sony Music execs “aren’t sure who her audience is anymore. Where once she had little girls, she’s been supplanted by Beyonce, Gaga, and Rhianna.” J. Lo’s manager, Benny Medina confirmed the split this morning, saying:
“Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music group, and they have shared many successes together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction her career as an actress and recording artist. She is grateful and appreciative to everyone Sony for all that they accomplished together.”
The big rumor is that she’s already in talks with Island Def Jam’s bigwig L.A. Reid to come to his label.
Wow. I can’t even say I’m surprised, because I’m not. Jennifer Lopez is not the hot commodity that she once was in her hay day. Not even as an actress is she making buzz. With the lukewarm feedback her two singles recieved, along with her much-talked about AMA performance, something like this was bound to happen. As for the rumor about her heading over to Def Jam, Mariah Carey must be somewhere smashing antique dishes all across her room, lmao! I do think if anyone can revive her musical career, it can be Mr. Reid. Look what he did to a non-singing talent like Rihanna. Hell, he played a major part in Mariah’s ressurection. Time will tell, right?
