August 25th, 2009
Eight years ago the world lost an angel. On August 25th, 2001, singer/actress Aaliyah was taken away from us. The world mourned the loss of a beautiful person, inside and out. Today we remember Aaliyah Dana Haughton and we celebrate her legacy.  She lives on forever through her family, friends and supporters.
A special shout out to @ivoryshorty for posting a poem she wrote in tribute of Aaliyah. So touching.
I chose to post this paticular Aaliyah performance, because it’s not only one of my favorites but it was such a pivotal moment in her career. She became the youngest African American woman ever, to perform at the Oscar Awards and it was also the first time she ever wore a dress as a performer (fans were shocked). Watch as she belts the theme song to Anastasia wih only the poise that Aaliyah can. One of her best vocal performances ever.
