Disney Pictures newest animated feature film seems to be causing quite a stir. Apparently a lot of folks are in an uproar over the fact that the lead characters are a Black (Princess) and a Latin (Prince). “The Princess and the Frog” is Disney’s first animated feature in it’s 75-year history to star a black princess. I am so disappointed that in 2009, adults are still harboring this hatred towards minorities. What is so wrong with giving our little girls someone they can relate to and idolize?  This is the same controversy that surrounded 2007’s (made for tv movie) Rodgers & Hammerstein’s: Cinderella. That film saw R&B singer Brandy as Cinderella along with a racially diverse cast. I dream of  the day, that something so minor, can be viewed as a reality and is not questioned. When we are all seen as human beings and not just a color or race. I applaud Disney for making films that will empower the younger generation. That will show them, anything is possible, regardless of your skin tone.
